OPEN WATER
Susan Watkins and Daniel Kintner are a couple who both
have high pressure jobs that are impacting their relationship. They decide to
take a scuba vacation to Australia to allow them a chance to work on their
relationship. On January 25, 1998 they go out on a scuba trip with 18 other
people. However, due to a miscount the boat leaves them behind when it moves to
another area. Susan and Daniel surface
and find the boat gone, but they believe it will return for them. They
drift from the dive site. Jellyfish bite them and then Susan gets bitten in the
leg by a shark. Another shark bites Daniel and the wound bleeds freely. In
spite of Susan using her drive belt to try and put pressure on the wound to
stop the bleeding, he goes into shock. [10:34 to 1:06:31] At night sharks
return and kill Daniel. In the morning their belongings are finally noticed on
the boat and a search is begun. Susan
releases Daniel’s body into the water, where sharks attack it in a feeding
frenzy. Seeing no sign of rescue, Susan commits suicide by drowning herself.
Their camera is later found in a shark’s stomach.
A very scary film.
