DR. NO
After British
agent Strangeways vanishes in Jamaica, MI6 agent James Bond is sent to
investigate. On January 5, 1962 [9:45 to 26:53] he arrives in Jamaica. Bond
eventually focuses on Crab Key, owned by the reclusive Dr. No. Bond goes there
with local boatman Quarrel and meets Honey Ryder, who illegally collects shells
there. Quarrell is killed by Dr. No’s henchmen, while Bond and Ryder are
captured. Dr. No reveals he is a member of an underground criminal group that
intends to disrupt the American Mercury program. Bond escapes, destroys Dr.
No’s base, kills him, rescues Honey and escapes.
Felix Leiter is reading a
newspaper @17:35. if you zoom in and freeze you can read the headline “India
wins first Test Series with England”, which obliviously occurred the day
before, which makes the date of Bond’s arrival this date. A History of
Indian Cricket by Mihir Bose (Andre Deutsch, Ltd., London, 1990) at page
433 gives the date of India’s first test cricket win over England as January 4,
1962
