March 8 - Over The Hedge

Today’s movie is a cartoon comedy with a scene that happens on March 8. Watch it tonight and enjoy.

OVER THE HEDGE

On March 8, 2006, [00:31 to 7:34] RJ, a raccoon, tries to steal the food stash of Vincent, a black bear, but accidentally destroys it. RJ talks Vincent out of killing him by promising to replace it in one week when Vincent finally wakes up from hibernation. The next day a group of foragers, led by the turtle Verne wakes up and discovers most of their habitat has been replaced by a residential subdivision, from which a tall hedge now separates their small remnant of woodland. RJ talks them into stealing some cookies from the girl scouts, but this results in a call to an exterminator. They steal enough food, but Verne’s attempt to return it results in it being destroyed. Verne accidentally insults his group trying to explain his actions, which results in Verne putting RJ in charge. He develops a plan to steal the food that is being brought in for a big party. The plan is almost a success, as the food is retrieved, but all the animals except RJ are captured by the Verminator. When RJ delivers the food to Vincent a comment by the bear that RJ is like him causes RJ to change his mind. He goes to rescue his new family in the process destroying the food again. The bear chases RJ. They end up back at the party house where the group ends up trapped in the hedge with two humans on one side and Vincent on the other. RJ gives an energy drink to Hamy, a hyperactive squirrel who becomes so hyper that to him the rest of the world appears to have stopped. He turns on a trap the exterminator had set that catches the two humans and Vincent. The group returns to the woods and accepts RJ as a new member.

A pretty funny movie for both kids and adults.

The full moon immediately before the start of spring in 2006 was on March 15th according to http://www.fullmoon.info/en/fullmoon-calendar/2006.html. So a week before must be on the 8th.
