BLACK HAWK DOWN
On October 2, 1993 [3:00 – 19:15] the forces of Somali warlord Mohamed Farrah Aidid steal UN food supplies. The US decides to arrest Elmi and Qeybdiid, two of Aidid’s lieutenants. The men are captured in a helicopter raid but the ground extraction force is attacked. PFC Todd Blackburn is injured and three humvees sent to take him to friendly territory are cut off. Black Hawk Super Six One is shot down and US forces can’t reach the crash site. Then Super Six Four is shot down also. Although they resist, the forces at the Super Six four crash site are overrun and Michael Durant is captured. Eventually the forces at the Super Six One crash site are rescued.
