THE ROSA PARKS
STORY
After the victory in the
Montgomery bus boycott Rosa Parks rides the bus and thinks back over her life.
She had gone to school at the Quaker run Montgomery Industrial School. She
later meets Raymond Parks, a barber and civil rights advocate. After a
determined pursuit by him they are finally wed. She works as a seamstress in a Montgomery Department Store and
joins the NAACP. She tries to register to vote. On December 1, 1955 [57:37 to
1:08:53] Rosa refuses to give up her seat to a white man on the bus and gets
arrested. A boycott of the bus system is organized and even though both she and
her husband lose their jobs, eventually the boycott succeeds.
A good biopic. Effectively tells
a political story without losing sight of the people involved. It does present
a version of the story that is not exactly correct.
